A powder based process coupled with electrostatic positive and negative ions forms the printed image on the paper, the toner particles are then fused to the paper with heat. Having a higher cost per page than litho printing but no set up costs, means it is ideally suited to short run and on-demand printing.
Eco – Minimal set up sheets or paper wastage is required for toner printing.
Originating from the humble photocopier, toner printers have come of age with the capability of printing a wide colour gamut across many different grades of papers, closely resembling the look and feel of litho printing. Well maintained high-end machines can print beautiful solids and tints.
Top Tip:
Being a solid ink as compared to liquid litho ink, toner is subject to cracking when folded. We recommend you avoid ink on the fold or laminate to eliminate the chance of cracking.
Being a dense solid material, highly specified toner and liquid toned presses can print white. This means you can choose a beautiful coloured substrate and print your brand or an image on the surface using the white ink to create a neutral background for your printed image.
Top Tip:
It's worth applying a double or triple hit white to get a decent white effect.
Being an electrostatic process, every sheet can have different text and images. This allows for personalisation and engaging, high impact mailings.
