The ultimate form and the original reason why printing was invented hundreds of years ago; a book is a method of recording information in the form of writing or images, typically composed of many pages.
Books have a long shelf life and are 100% recyclable.
Made by collating folded text sections into a single book block then sawing off the spine to create a block of single pages. Gluing these pages with a strong, long-lasting PUR adhesive whilst drawing on the soft covers brings all the elements together. Finally the book is trimmed square on 3 edges ready for packing and despatch.
These books can handle heavy paper stocks and a high page volume, often used with gloss, matt, anti-scuff and soft-touch laminates.
Top Tip:
Depending on the thickness, you can print on the spine.
Hardbound books are bound using a traditional method called case binding. The front and back cover of your hardback book is printed in one piece and glued around greyboards to create the case of your book.
The inner sections or text pages are bound together using section sewing or PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) adhesive.
The cover cases are ‘drawn’ onto the text sections and finished off with end papers that are glued to the case on the front and back. Flysheets are inserted just before and after the text printed pages.
